Tesla Model 3 Frame Could be Made of Aluminum, Ford May Convert All Full-Size Trucks and SUVs to Aluminum Body
Tesla Motors has officially announced their much-anticipated mass-market car, the Model 3. While Tesla has yet to confirm exactly how the Model 3 is constructed, InsideEVs has speculated that the Model 3’s frame, platform and skateboard will be made of aluminum, while body panels and suspension components will be made from steel to save costs.

According to automotive industry sources, the Ford Motor Company will be converting their entire line of full-size pickups and SUVs to aluminum bodies by 2017. The Ford F150 has featured an aluminum body for two model years but now, the luxury Lincoln Navigator and Expedition SUV are due to receive all new lightweight aluminum bodies for the 2018 model year.
